About this property

Welcome to Royal Hotel Chilliwack

Situated in a heritage building dating back to 1908, Royal Hotel Chilliwack offers a blend of historic charm and practical comfort in downtown Chilliwack. The hotel’s early 20th-century architecture and character-filled rooms provide a unique setting for guests seeking a more traditional atmosphere rather than modern luxury. Some guests have highlighted the building’s rustic appeal and distinctive features, including creaking floors and varied room layouts that each offer a slightly different experience.

The property features cozy, air-conditioned rooms equipped with free Wi-Fi and complimentary parking. While it lacks on-site dining options and amenities such as a fitness center or pool, guests have access to Whiskey Richard's, an on-site bar with positive reviews. Several restaurants and a grocery store are also within walking distance, although many close early in the evening. The absence of kitchen appliances in rooms means guests should prepare accordingly, especially those who prefer tea over coffee.

Ideal for visitors who appreciate historic settings and convenient access to local attractions, the hotel sits just 2 km from the Prospera Centre entertainment venue and close to the Meadowlands Golf & Country Club. Outdoor enthusiasts will find opportunities nearby like Cultus Lake with its hiking, fishing, and waterpark activities. Despite its older style, the property has been described by past guests as well-maintained and clean, with a friendly and accommodating staff. Noise levels are generally low, though occasional street sounds may be present.

Royal Hotel Chilliwack appeals mainly to travelers looking for a thoughtfully preserved heritage experience within easy reach of downtown amenities and cultural sites. It suits visitors who prioritize location and character over modern luxury or extensive hotel facilities. Check-in is from 3 PM and check-out by 11 AM, allowing for a convenient schedule for exploring the surrounding area.

We stayed in the room above the bar. The bar is closed, otherwise there would be noise. The room has two beds. I slept really well both nights. There's hardly any noise except for an occasional truck. There's a Keurig coffeemaker, but there's no fridge or microwave or a kettle. If you're a tea-drinker, you'll need your own kettle. Multiple restaurants nearby and a Save-On within a walking distance. But lots of places close at 9 pm. The room was clean and air-conditioning worked really well, although you can't adjust it. Overall, a much better place than what you see in reviews, but I understand that different rooms will have different quirks. The building has this "old folks" smell, but the room didn't have any smell whatsoever. The walls are thin and you can hear other guests even if they talk quietly. If a child cries, then you'll definitely hear. One strange thing is that you need a code to enter the building, so if you have a visitor, you have to meet them at the front door under the watchful eye of the attendant. It probably makes sense, because it's a rough neighborhood, apparently, in terms of property crimes. The neighborhood looks fairly clean and well-maintained, though. There are no elevators and the stairs are narrow and steep, so you can't access floors above if you have any mobility constraints.

I want to start by saying this is NOT a negative review. But I feel there are some things people should be aware of when booking with this hotel. If you are looking for a high class spa like property this is not for you. If you enjoy character and historic feel with amazing architectural vibes you'll love the Royal. I booked a 1 night stay for after a wedding and it was perfect. The staff were friendly and informative and easy to contact. The site was clean and beautiful. The location is great if you're wanting something central and near to District 1881. The building is a charming heritage site with lots of wood, antique furnishings and a beautiful entrance staircase. If you like the spooky season vibes the floors had that old building creek and the rooms were charming with clawfoot tubs. I stayed in the newer addition of the bank wing, but I think I would have liked the original wing better. The rooms have a little more character. I will say even though the room was clean my bathroom smelled of smoke. Obviously someone had smoked in it at some point and the smell was in the walls and shower curtain. The beds were older but comfortable and there was some cute antiques, but there were some hole patch marks in the walls and the windows were caked with spider webs. Over all it is a clean older property with amazing staff and cute small town charm. Don't skip it simply because it's not updated and has some beauty marks.

Perfectly situated near district 1881, this little gem is old but very well maintained. The staff are incredibly accommodating, notably both Raven and Breeze went above and beyond during our stay. The HVAC system in the hotel was excellent keeping the place very cool. The royal became our cool oasis in the heat of the summer. The rooms were very clean and there are a ton of great restaurants nearby to explore. Highly recommend this stay if your a foodie that likes to try different cuisine in the area. The rooms have an undoubtedly rustic charm , we stayed in 3 different rooms during our visit and saw several others . No 2 are the same!

So unexpected! Booked last minute in an unfamiliar area to us. This place is adorable! And right in the heart of a super cute area in Chilliwack. “The District”. The room was so classic and special. Like something out of a movie! Breeze, at the desk, was also amazing! So helpful and informative, friendly and funny! We WILL be back for all these reasons. Chilliwack will be our next vacation destination!

My family and I stayed here with our young infant. We had a great time. The rooms are very beautiful and historic. Our rooms were all very clean and the beds were comfortable. The hotel is near lots of restaurants and shops. I was initially worried about noise from the street for our baby, but it was fine. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Royal Hotel Chilliwack is a gem of a spot! The staff is super kind and helpful. The location is right in the heart of Chilliwack—great walkability to everything in town. Just park your car and leave it at the parking spot available from the hotel.

Breeze was lovely. The hotel has so much charm and the floors "talked" like they had centuries of stories to tell. Room was clean and the tub was fantastic after a long drive

It is an older style not huge room. My wife and I have been going there for a few years and love it. Has a bed and bathroom. We don’t need much more. We are busy so a place to sleep and shower is perfect. Staff is always amazing. We are never disappointed.
